(oh yes its March already!) Sometimes recognition doesn’t just validate the work — it clarifies the identity. This week was one of those weeks.
From council reviews — especially with Hampshire County Council — to being invited to the The D-Day Story Museum for a powerful maritime event with SLR Recruitment Solutions and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, and the Fareham Business Exhibition with Everyone Active – SLM (thank you Lucy Butler!) show it felt like the ecosystem we’ve been building around skills, growth, and capability is truly growing.
Across conversations with councils, chambers, SMEs, and partners in hashtagLondon, hashtagSouthampton, hashtagFareham, and hashtagPortsmouth, the same pattern emerges:
✓ businesses that invest in structured development outperform those relying on reactive hiring.
We had fantastic support from Hampshire Chamber of Commerce across two networking events — thank you Gemma and Jack! Your events are the best organised – super cool game in the morning!
And then came a moment that genuinely stopped me in my tracks —
✓ Business Person of the Year. Wow! I nearly went home that night giving up before the announcement came! Thank you London Chamber of Commerce and Industry SME Business Awards and HSBC!
It wasn’t just a pleasant surprise.
✓ Step8Up is no longer just a training provider.
✓ We are a capability development company.
But identity alone isn’t enough. It must convert into consistent action. Into training that transforms.
